Vans RV12 Build Log
Build Preparation
Every man needs a cave and every builder needs a workshop, both of mine just happen to be my two car garage. Months prior to the build I began cleaning out the garage starting with the motto, "If I haven't used it in the last year, I don't need it" which meant several trips to the dump. Some shelving from Home Depot to get organized with what I do need and a reorg of the garage. I eventually got around to building an EAA workbench, only 1 although the plans call for two. I need the flexibility to move a car in and out of the garage due to the hail storms we can get here in North TX and with motorcycles, lawn equipment, tools, yadi yah that only left room for 1. I figure a couple folding tables will have to do. Then the big purchase from Cleveland Aircraft Tool for all the recommended tools and then some for the RV14A (at that time I was seriously set on building the 14A). It didn't take long from there to build the toolbox and practice wing kit I had sitting in my office for quite a few months awaiting tools. I learned a lot from building these and highly recommend anyone thinking of building to complete these two before hand and practice riveting. Empennage kit soon to come and I cannot wait to get started!
